Celebrating 25+ groundbreaking years, FISHBONE has been trailblazing their way through the history of American Ska, Funk, Punk, Rock Fusion and (so-called) Black Rock since starting their professional career in Los Angeles' burgeoning, Alternative Rock music scene of the mid-1980s. Their sound has often been imitated, but never duplicated. They have toured worldwide with such bands as the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Roots, Les Claypool/Primus, Fela Kuti, George Clinton, The Dead Kennedys and many more. Angelo Moore's ability to combine thought-provoking, humorous social commentary with FISHBONE's frenzied, up-tempo music and frantic, euphorically entertaining stage show has cultivated their undisputed reputation as one of the best live acts in music history.

    Milo Z's 4th Annual
    Funky New Years Eve Party
He calls the music “Razzamofunk”, a combination of Rock, Rap, Jazz, Blues & Funk. The sound is what you might expect from a kid growing up on New York City’s Lower East Side (now the East Village). It was a culturally diverse neighborhood once considered the “melting pot”; full of poets, artists, musicians, junkies, punk rockers, winos and families of modest means. From this beginning it seems only natural that Milo Z’s music would have a gritty, funky, soulful and unique edge, hence – Razzamofunk.

Al Chez & The Brothers of Funk
Al Chez, is a trumpet player extraordinaire. Getting his start in his father’s drum corps in New Jersey at age 9, his career has spanned more than 20 years with stints in a number of rock, funk and blues bands. A veteran of the clubs around New York City and New Jersey, Chez branched out to California to join the soul-funk band Tower of Power in 1988 and then played trumpet for the band of blues master Robert Cray for a short time in the mid-1990s. In 1997, Shaffer asked Chez to be a full-time member of the CBS Orchestra, and Chez has been performing on The Late Show with David Letterman ever since. He maintains a presence as an instructor for a number of drum corps, and is a staff member for the University of Virginia Cavalier marching band.
He formed Al Chez and the Brothers of Funk Big Band with two Rochester-area music teachers, Jimmy Steele and Jarred Streiff.

"The music Jerry Garcia played has defined many of us. It has spanned many generations. From Old Time to Bluegrass to Reggae to Blues, to Motown to Rock and Roll and of course Grateful Dead.
We grew up with and were shaped by the music of the Grateful Dead. Sharing this music is the goal and love of this band."

New Riders of the Purple Sage
NRPS began as a part-time spin-off from the Grateful Dead when Jerry Garcia (pedal steel guitar), Phil Lesh (bass) and Mickey Hart (drums) teamed up with John Dawson (guitar, vocals) and David Nelson (guitar). Although early live appearances were viewed as an informal warm-up to the main attraction, the group quickly established an independent identity through the strength of Dawson’s original songs. By 1970 Dave Torbert had replaced Lesh, and Spencer Dryden, formerly of Jefferson Airplane, had joined as the group’s permanent drummer. Garcia remained in both The Dead and The New Riders until he found himself overcommitted, at which time Buddy Cage replaced him and the classic NRPS lineup was born. Original NRPS bass player Dave Torbert and drummer Spencer Dryden have passed away, co-founder John Dawson Passed away in 2009 due to ongoing health problems. His considerable talents will be missed but his songs and musical legacy will live on. Before he passed he had given his blessing and was excited to know his music is being heard live again by a whole new generation of fans. The new lineup vows to keep the NRPS spirit and tunes alive by taking them to fans everywhere.
